Maternal and Child Health Programs

North Country’s MCH program offers integrated healthcare for women and children throughout their life span, addressing physical, psychological and
social needs. The multi-disciplinary MCH team consists of board-certified Obstetrician/Gynecologists, Certified Nurse Midwives, Family Nurse Practitioners, a Family Practice Physician and a Pediatrician. In addition,
there is oversight by a program coordinator as well as experienced case managers for families enrolled in the Health Start Program (see Outreach Programs). We provide quality healthcare in a supportive, culturally competent, family and community setting.
Preconception Care (before you're pregnant)
Our MCH efforts begin by providing preconception (before pregnancy) care. Pre-pregnancy consultations allow you to address concerns and health issues with a medical provider to ensure you are in the best possible health prior to becoming pregnant. Preconception care includes: routine well woman exams, family planning/birth control, diet and exercise counseling, maintenance of chronic illnesses and oral health. As soon as you think you are pregnant, call and schedule your first prenatal appointment.
Prenatal Care
The Prenatal Care at North Country HealthCare is family centered and comprehensive. Care is provided by board certified Obstetrician/Gynecologists and Certified Nurse Midwives. The Prenatal Care Plan includes: routine prenatal exams,
routine lab tests, ultrasounds, your first post partum visit, discounted prenatal vitamins and a free dental screening. As part of your prenatal care you will also have the opportunity to participate in one-on-one
ed ucation (English or Spanish) by the Health
Start Program (see Outreach Programs).
There are three payment options: Private Insurance plans, AHCCCS or a sliding fee scale for those that do not have insurance or only qualify for Federal Emergency Service
only AHCCCS. Patients without insurance that do not qualify for AHCCCS are encouraged to apply for the sliding fee scale as soon as possible. The sliding fee scale for the prenatal care plan ranges from $740 to $2,150. To qualify for the sliding fee scale you must bring proof of your monthly family income, photo identification, and proof of address (such as an AHCCCS denial letter, driver’s license, or utility bill).

Pediatric Care
During your prenatal course you will have the opportunity to meet our pediatrician or family physician to ease your transition from pregnancy to parenting. Our pediatrician, Dr. Nina Souders and several other board-certified family physicians and family nurse practitioners will care for your child from birth throughout life. North Country participates in the Vaccine for Children Program and the Arizona State Immunization Information System, (the state registry) to ensure all children are appropriately immunized by their second birthday. North Country is a Reach Out and Read Program site. Physicians provide children 6 months to 5 years old a new book at every well child check to promote early literacy among families. We also provide hearing screening for children 0-3 years of age and car seat installation education and distribution. Our desire is that every child is born with optimal health, receives quality care and is nurtured lovingly and sensitively as they mature into healthy and productive adults.
